During the WAVE we make time to honor those who have blazed a trail and showed the way for our profession. Our three honorees have served chiropractic in countless acts of service – as educators, mentors, warriors and visionaries. They share the ability to show others, from patients to fellow chiropractors, their own immeasurable possibilities. The inspiration and purpose they ignited in others have lead to countless success stories. These incredible chiropractors have left an indelible impression on the face of chiropractic on the West Coast and throughout the world. Join us in hearing their stories and in celebrating the legacy they have bestowed on us.

Dr. Pat Gayman:

Dr. Gayman has a unique perspective on the chiropractic profession serving as both a successful practitioner and as a teacher/administrator at Life West. She graduated at a time when National Boards had been given in only a small number of states (not including CA), there was no insurance of any kind and only 5% of graduates were women. The relationship between the spine and the nervous system have sustained her passion for chiropractic since the beginning.

Dr. Brian Long:

Dr. Long graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in l967. Following graduation he moved to Tacoma, Washington to intern and mentor with Dr. Burl Pettibon, the innovator of Upper Cervical Instrument Adjusting. Along with his brother he built one of the largest multi-doctor clinics in the Northwest.

He was co-creator of the United Chiropractors of Washington. He was inducted in the Chiropractic Knights of the Round Table in 1982, an academic fraternity.

Following retirement from clinical practice in 2002, he co-created Long-VanQuaethem Practice Trainers, where he teaches doctors and staff the systems for operating a successful practice.

Dr. Irene Gold:
